There are lots of ways to give here at the Utah Shakespeare Festival, this includes cash, checks, and credit cards, but also so much more! Each of these options provides various advantages to you, the donor.
Gifts of Cash
An outright pledge of cash is the easiest way to give and qualifies for a full charitable deduction.
Gifts of Appreciated Property
Capital assets, including stocks, bonds, securities, and real estate, which have appreciated significantly beyond the original purchase price, can be contributed, creating significant tax benefits. Certain limitations apply; however, donors are encouraged to consult with advisors about such gifts.
Insurance and Retirement Plans
Contribute an existing life insurance policy, or establish a new one with the Utah Shakespeare Festival as the beneficiary. Name the Utah Shakespeare Festival as the beneficiary of your individual retirement plan or other qualified pension plan.
Corporate and Matching Gifts
Owners of closely held corporations could benefit by making a contribution through the company. This avoids possible double taxation of both corporate and personal incomes. Also, many corporations have matching gift programs under which the clause of an employee’s or director’s (or spouse’s) gift may be multiplied.
Tax Deductibility
While tax benefits are rarely the prime motivation behind a gift, they often enable a donor to give more than would otherwise be possible. The Utah Shakespeare Festival is a 501 c(3) organization, so all gifts are tax deductible to the extent provided by law.
