Cedar City, UT –The Utah Shakespeare Festival will be celebrating our Armed Forces on Tuesday, July 16 and Wednesday July 17 by offering free tickets to the evening performances of Peter and the Starcatcher and Twelve Angry Men for military personnel and their families. The Festival appreciates the sacrifices of the men and women who serve and wants to recognize their dedication and commitment to this country.
The Festival will be proud to welcome Utah's 222nd National Guard and any other active or inactive service personnel, as well as their families. A valid military ID is required.
In this regional premiere of Peter and the Starcatcher, Peter Pan, that spunky boy we've loved through the years, has another story to tell. In this colorful play with magic more powerful than pixie dust, you'll learn how Peter, the lost boys, pirates, and mermaids came to inhabit Neverland. Meet an enchanting girl, Molly, with spunk of her own as she and Peter sail a stormy sea, traipse through a mysterious island, spar with the most evil of men, and learn to soar for the sake of good. The adventures never end with Peter Pan, and his wild journey here at the Utah Shakespeare Festival is surely going to lift your spirits.
On a sweltering August night in New York City, the jury files into the deliberation room for Reginald Rose's American classic, Twelve Angry Men. When the door is locked behind them, twelve nameless men from twelve varied backgrounds must decide the fate of a young man accused of killing his father. Faced with playing the executioner, these dozen men must first face themselves, their biases, and their own sense of justice. This American classic will have you on the edge of your seat until the final verdict is announced.
Military personnel are invited to reserve tickets to both shows. Peter and the Starcatcher will play on Tuesday, July 16 at 8 p.m. Twelve Angry Men will be on Wednesday, July 17 at 8 p.m. without an intermission and with a talkback immediately following the performance.
To reserve tickets, military personnel should contact the Festival ticket office at 800-PLAYTIX or 435-586-7878. A valid military ID will be required to pick up the tickets, and there is a limit of six tickets per family. Space is limited for this special event, so call soon to reserve your seats.
