Cedar City, UT –The Utah Shakespeare Festival will be celebrating every branch of the Armed Forces on Saturday, August 11 by offering free tickets to the evening performance of Scapin at 8 pm. The Festival appreciates the sacrifices of the men and women who serve and want to recognize their dedication and commitment to this country.
The Festival will be proud to welcome Utah’s 222nd National Guard and any other active or inactive service personnel, as well as their families. A valid military ID is required.
Scapin is a modern adaptation of Moliére’s hilarious comedy. It is irreverent, pun-filled, thoroughly modern, and filled from top to bottom with comic madness. The adaptation keeps the original structure of the popular French playwright's classic farce, but adds fresh, topical, and contemporary humor ("Moliére didn't write this part"). Brimming with zany characters and improvisation and led by the hilarious and crafty servant Scapin, this play is an uproarious romp of hugely theatrical proportions. This play contains sexual innuendo and double entendres, but is appropriate for most audiences.
To reserve tickets, military personnel should contact the Festival ticket office at 800-PLAYTIX or 435-586-7878. A valid military ID will be required to pick up the tickets, and there is a limit of six tickets per family. Space is limited for this special event, so call soon to reserve your seats.
