The fall season will run from Sept. 16 through Oct. 23 with three different plays in the Randall L. Jones Theatre. The season features Shakespeare’s “Odyssey”-like drama “The Adventures of Pericles,” the Pulitzer Prize-winning play “The Diary of Anne Frank,”and the rural comedy “Greater Tuna.”
Shakespeare’s “The Adventures of Pericles” is a tale of high adventure, in which the title character undertakes a perilous odyssey, searching for thrills, riches, and family. But, dangers and uncertainty face him on every seashore as he sails from country to country, and from intrigue to intrigue. His loves die. His friends deceive him. The gods seem to be against him. But, in the end, he finds the most important treasure of all: himself.
“The Diary of Anne Frank” is a story of one little girl whose bravery, hope and determination have inspired thousands. In 1942 Amsterdam, life is no longer safe for Anne and her family. Forced into hiding, this courageous girl records her struggles through the power of the written word. This Pulitzer Prize-winning play is a testament not to brutality of war and hatred, but to the unshakable spirit of a young girl and to the hopes and loves of a family and a people trying to hold on to their faith.
